- Starts: 12:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2026
- Ends: 1:15 pm on Friday, October 16, 2026
Featuring:
- Darius Haghighat, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine
- Sapna Khatri, Executive Director, Program on Reproductive Justice, Lecturer, Boston University School of Law
In this session our scholars, Sapna Khatri and Darius Haghighat, explore sexual development and bodily autonomy through the lived experiences of intersex people and their family members. This presentation draws from multiple disciplines to form a more complete understanding of this complex topic. What is intersex, and how has this natural phenomenon become a political controversy with far-reaching social implications? What do we envision for the future of diagnosis and care for intersex children and adults?
Open to all BU faculty, staff, and students.
Sponsored by the LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff, Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, and School of Law
