ACOSA Awards

Submit Nomination for Career Achievement and/or Emerging Scholar

Deadline: September 1, 2011

ACOSA invites you to nominate a worthy candidate for the Career Achievement Award and/or the Emerging Scholar Award to be given at the Annual Program Meeting of the Council on Social Work Education in Atlanta, October, 2011.

The Career Achievement Award honors the lifetime contribution of a person in the field.
Criteria: Over the course of his/her career, the nominee shall have made a major contribution to:
1. The conceptual definition of community practice (community organization and/or social administration); or
2.The empirical knowledge base of the discipline, including research methods and findings; or
3.The significant development of practice methods, including work as a practitioner, teacher or methods, and/or writer.
The Emerging Scholar Award honors a recent Ph.D. (pre-tenure) or a Ph.D. student who is doing meritorious scholarship in the field.
Criteria: The nominee shall have demonstrated:
1. Outstanding scholarly potential in an area of community practice as evidenced by the dissertation proposal, dissertation, and/or other writing; or
2.Substantial dissemination of knowledge through presentation of work.

Nomination Materials:

(Nominator must be an individual member of ACOSA)
*A letter of recommendation that clearly describes the demonstrated contributions of the nominee according to the criteria;
*Two letters of support for the nominee from instructors and/or colleagues; and
*A CV of the nominee

Letters that describe and provide evidence of the impact, legacy and/or promise of the nominee are most helpful.
