The Gospel Team

Gospel Team 1

“Who drives the Gospel Team?” asked a small Bostonian of a theolog.

“I will tell you all about it when I get back,” was the answer. Friday evening found him one of five on a train leaving North Station for—no one knew where but the leader. In a short time they were at a railway station shaking hands with the local pastor. In half an hour they were leading an earnest prayer service. Saturday they got acquainted with the people, and in the evening another service was held.

By Sunday our theolog feels as though he has been there a week, knows nearly everybody, and everybody knows him. He helps in the morning service, the Sunday School, the evening service. He has helped a young man with a personal problem. He has suggested a new idea to the Sunday School superintendent, has inspired a discourage officer in the Young People’s Society. And there are five of him! Monday he returns feeling it is worth while to do good.

A little later the Navy Leader gets him to help in a meeting aboard the “North Dakota,” just in at the Charlestown Navy Yard.

“Who drives the Gospel Team?” They do not need it. 31 men between Oct. 8th and Mar. 21st have kept week-ends filled visiting churches and battleships this year. 21 different churches have been visited (some twice), and 260 people have definitely been helped. Several young people were moved to decide for some form of Christian work. And the end is not yet.
