Patty Underwood

Patty Underwood graduated from Boston University of Social Work in 2007 with an MSW and a group work certificate. She worked for Riverside Community Care for 12 years as a clinical social worker, supervisor, and leadership and quality control team member. She has been on the research team of the BU Hoarding Project since 2007 and has led presentations on the topic of hoarding for organizations across the U.S. Underwood has created hoarding support groups for the Towns of Watertown and Newton in Massachusetts. She is a co-author in Group Treatment for Hoarding Disorder, Therapist Guide for Treatments that Work and is a contributing co-author in the Clinical Handbook of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders. Underwood is a member of the International Association of Social Works with Groups and National Association of Social Workers, and has been a lecturer at BUSSW since 2009. Underwood was the 2017 recipient of the NASW Emerging Leader Award. She has a private practice in Cambridge, Mass., and is a medical social worker at Cape Cod Hospital.
