Kate DeForest
Assistant Dean, Advancement
Kate DeForest has worked in the advancement field for over 30 years and currently serves as assistant dean for advancement at Boston University. In her role, she manages advancement activities for BU School of Social Work and the College of General Studies at BU. During her 15 years at BU, she has also served as assistant dean for advancement at the School of Hospitality Administration, as a senior director of development managing the activities of a cohort of school-based gift officers, and as director of advancement at BU Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine.
Before her tenure at BU, DeForest worked in both education and healthcare fundraising at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Latin School Association, University at Buffalo, and SUNY Geneseo. She also serves as a member of the Education Committee and co-chair of the Basics Program with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Massachusetts Chapter.
DeForest holds a bachelor’s degree in English from SUNY Geneseo, where she is an active alumna mentoring students and assisting with regional events.
