The BU Spark! community is a vibrant, diverse, and engaged group of students who are passionate about computing and data sciences and driven to make an impact. When you join a Spark! program, attend an event, or just hang out in the Spark! Space, you are joining one of the most innovative and creative communities on campus.

Spark! Ambassadors work to build an inclusive, vibrant, and enriching community for students interested in computing, data science, engineering, and related disciplines. With five different tracks, you can work while you earn your degree.

Spark! Space

The Spark! Space, on Floor 2 of the Boston University Center for Computing & Data Science, is open to all students Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM during the fall and spring semesters. On weekends, only Spark! students may use the Space.

Weekly events

Cookie O’Clock: Every Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the Spark! Space, come take a break, play some games, and grab a cookie!

Tech Talk: Every Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the Spark! Space, Spark! Ambassadors host a different workshop to help you build skills, connect with industry professionals, and connect with other computing and data science students!

Syntax & Snax: Every Thursday at 4:00-7:00 PM and Sunday 1:00-3:00 PM in the Spark! Space, work alongside your peers on personal projects with the help of Spark! technical mentors and experts in residence.
