Erika Thomson

Assistant Director of Outreach and Prevention, CAPS

I have been practicing as a clinical social worker since 2012. Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including mental health crisis teams, ambulatory care clinics, emergency departments, and medical/ICU hospital units. I take a person-centered approach to care, empowering individuals to develop the insight and strengths necessary to be their best selves. I joined behavioral medicine in 2019. In my clinical role, I conduct initial assessments for students seeking care for the first time. In previous academic years, I also provided therapy at the Behavioral Medicine satellite location on the medical campus. In my leadership role, I organize outreach efforts across campuses to reduce stigma and increase access to mental health treatment for all students.

Personal Hobbies
I am an avid thriftier and love a good vintage find. Being in nature always helps me to reset, especially when I have my rescue dog, Cali, in tow. One of my favorite spots to soak up the sun is the Block Island Nature Conservancy.
