Brent Hamula

Department Lead – Healthcare Preparedness

My career has offered me a very dynamic opportunity to see the world supporting my professional passion to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment working with combat, team, endurance, and performance athletes from over 50 different realms of sport spanning from high school, collegiate to Olympic and professional levels. I had the pleasure to start my career at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY. Highlighted by being selected to support the medical staff for the United States Olympic Committee at the 2002, 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games. In addition, I have provided medical support at the 2003 Winter World University Games for Alpine Ski, 2007 Pan American Games for Swimming and multiple world cup/world championships for Short Track Speed Skating, Men’s Bobsled and Triathlon. Current orthopedic and diagnostic expertise include the care planning and prevention for our diverse Division I athletes, club sport programs and ROTC military athletes. Professional development training ranges from musculoskeletal ultrasound, dry needling, manual therapy mobilization, MRI radiograph, orthopedic evaluation, movement screening techniques, strength/conditioning, and emergency management. My lecture invitations have ranged from local and national levels for injury prevention/management, best practices, and response mitigation for large scale events to groups such as state Athletic Training Associations, FEMA Homeland Security, the Boston SWAT Police, Naval and Marine ROTC national leadership, Patriot League, and the American Public Health Association. Our SHS care team continues to motivate me to raise the bar for best practice care and techniques to help best serve our BU community.
