Amy Santana

Staff Therapist / Evaluation Clinician

While majoring in journalism as an undergrad, a Feature Writing course in my junior year made me fall in love with people’s stories. Later, as a graduate student in counseling, I spent the first several years of my training and professional career working with LGBTQ survivors of partner abuse, and eventually expanded to working with other forms of interpersonal trauma and mental health concerns. I’ve worked in many different settings and am excited to return to college counseling as part of the BU community. Before joining BU, I was in private practice where I specialized in working with WOC/QWOC impacted by childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, and oppression. I look forward to supporting students from all walks of life, especially those who often don’t see themselves reflected or may lack a sense of belonging. In addition to talk therapies, I’m trained in brain-based and somatic modalities that can assist in making the most of short-term care. Some areas of clinical interest include anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, complex family dynamics, and grief. I like working at SHS because I get to work alongside passionate people dedicated to helping students find their way through challenging times.

In my spare time, you might find me working through a stack of library books, watching romantic comedies, or sitting in the sun.
