Student Health Advisory Board
Help improve services and programs for other BU students.
The Student Health Advisory Board is a committee of nominated undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree students who provide feedback to improve Student Health Services’ access, services, and programs. The time commitment is two 1.5 hour meetings per semester (via zoom or in person) and completing one or two surveys per semester.
Impact
As a result of the SHAB feedback, SHS has taken, or is currently taking, the following actions
Health Equity and the IMPACT Student Task Force
These actions result from a SHAB meeting on November 14th, 2025.
Collaborated with student groups and campus partners on outreach to provide more visibility for SHS resources, particularly to communities of color.
Patient Connect Navigation
These actions result from a SHAB meeting on February 9th, 2026.
- Reviewing the appointment scheduling pathways to make them easier and clearer
- Reviewing pathways for how students can message providers and nurses
- Updating the visual look of Patient Connect
Let's Talk About Mental Health Campaign
These actions result from a SHAB meeting on March 16th, 2026.
- Expanding campaign promotions into other spaces like academics and housing
- Increasing opportunities for BU community to collaborate with us on this campaign through tiers of involvement: partner, volunteers, “champion-like” roles
- Developing ways to gather real-time feedback from folks at key events
Primary Care Referrals and Front Desk Environment
These actions result from a SHAB meeting on April 6th, 2026.
- Reduced the number of monitors at front desk to create a more welcoming environment
- Piloting a check out process with Primary Care for clearer instructions after seeing medical providers
- Reviewing referral communications process
