Student Health Ambassadors

Student Health Ambassadors (SHAs) are undergraduate students trained by SHS staff and other professionals on mental health, substance use, sexual health, and issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

SHA Responsibilities:

  • Weekly Meetings: Friday afternoons from 2pm-4pm
    • These meetings are where SHAs check in with their team, continue to gain knowledge on health and wellness topics, and plan and provide feedback on upcoming events and initiatives.
  • Support campus physical and mental health in specific teams:
    • The Outreach Team supports and plans regular outreach, tabling, and social media/digital content creation.
    • The All Ears Team conducts Peer Listening sessions and supports mental health events.
    • The Sexual Health Team supports the Condom Fairy program and sexual health events.

Ambassadors have opportunities to:

  • Conduct community outreach
  • Be featured in campus-wide communications, such as social media
  • Provide feedback and consultation on Student Health Services’ initiatives
  • Raise awareness about health and wellness resources
  • Receive training and education in various wellness topics
  • Gain skills in communication, teamwork, and program planning

Eligibility

All undergraduate BU students are invited and encouraged to apply to be Student Health Ambassadors. We are looking for students with a passion for supporting their peers and community health, outreach, connection, and collaboration.

Applicants must:

  • Be in good judicial and academic standing with Boston University
  • Availability during training sessions and on Friday afternoons for our weekly meeting
    • Weekly Friday meetings occur 2-4pm
    • There will be extended meeting times for training from 2-5pm on these dates:
      September 4, 11, & 18
  • Ability to participate in a team building retreat on September 19th, 2026
  • Ability to commit 4-6 hours weekly

Application Process

  • Application Opens: January 23rd, 2026
  • Application deadline: February 23rd, 2026, 11:59pm
  • Notification of interview selection: March 17th, 2026
  • Interviews begin: March 23rd, 2026
  • Notification of decision: Late April 2026
  • Position commitment: September 2026 – May 2027
