Training Grant Support
Training grants (e.g., NIH T32, NSF NRT) provide institutional support for structured, multi-mentor programs that prepare graduate students and/or postdoctoral researchers. Our office prioritizes supporting these institutional training initiatives—especially those fostering cross-disciplinary and convergent research—by offering comprehensive support to faculty planning to submit for these grants. Note that institutional training grants are distinct from individual fellowship or career development awards (e.g., NIH F or K awards). Applicants for these grant types are encouraged to consult the Proposal Library for examples of successful proposals.

Clear, consistent, and sustainable institutional support for competitive federal training grants across BU’s CRC campus
- Preparation of institutional training grant proposals submitted to federal sponsors – including new, renewal, and resubmission applications
- Tracking federal training-grant policies and updates to ensure institutional compliance and alignment with evolving NIH and NSF requirements and priorities
- Implementation of faculty-focused programs and resources that enhance competitiveness and strengthen the quality of training grant applications
- Development of centralized data systems to manage trainee, mentor, and program data for proposal preparation, reporting, and long-term evaluation
