    Infrared Imaging Core

    The Infrared Imaging Core was formed to give investigators access to the LiCor Odyssey CLx, an infrared imaging system for quantitative Western Blot analysis. It provides access to the machine and analysis software, as well as training for new users, and technical support when needed, with the Odyssey CLx offering multiple advantages over traditional chemiluminescent detection.

    IVIS Imaging Core

    The primary use of the IVIS Imaging Core instrumentation is to non-invasively monitor bio-luminescence and fluorescence in three dimensions within small animal models, like rats and mice, although the instrument may also be used to assay comparatively sized tissue volumes post animal retrieval for specimens from larger animals.

    Materials Science Core Facilities

    The Materials Science Core Facilities is a multi-user facility for materials science characterization. This facility houses a variety of equipment including processing hoods for materials preparation. Equipment housed within MSE includes Bruker X-ray equipment, Zeiss micro-CT, Asylum inverted fluorescent AFM, a Renishaw Raman Microscope, and a Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) System from NMB.

    Metabolic Phenotyping Core

    Metabolic Phenotyping Core provides experimental testing services to researchers (inside and outside Boston University) studying metabolic diseases in mouse models, including non-invasive assessment of body composition, measurement of basal metabolic rate and physical activity using monitoring systems, evaluation of maximal exercise capacity using treadmill regimens, and more.

    Micro-Computed Tomography Imaging Core Facility

    The Micro-CT Imaging Core Facility provides nondestructive 3-D X-ray imaging for a wide variety of research applications involving both biological and non-biological materials. The facility houses a Scanco microCT40 and a Zeiss Xradia 520 Versa. Services are available to users internal and external to BU and include custom imaging, image analysis, and technical consultation.

    Microarray and Sequencing Resource Core Facility

    The Microarray and Sequencing Resource Core Facility offers Illumina and Ion Torrent Next Generation Sequencing and supports the full line of microarray products available from Affymetrix. As part of the standard microarray service, the resource provides assistance with experimental design and data analysis.
