Laurence Breiner
Professor of English Affiliated Faculty of African Studies Program, College of Arts & Sciences
Professor Breiner is a Professor in both the English and African Studies Departments. His teaching and research interests include Caribbean literature, especially poetry and drama and post-colonial literature. He is the author of Black Yeats: Eric Roach and the Politics of Caribbean Poetry (2008), An Introduction to West Indian Poetry (1998) and is currently working on a book titled Orality and Decolonization in West Indian Poetry: the Chemistry of Presence. He has also published dozens of articles and previously spent a year (2004) as a visiting professor of American Studies at the University of Tokyo.
