Adil Najam
Dean Emeritus; Professor of International Relations and Earth & Environment, Pardee School of Global Studies
Dr. Adil Najam is Dean Emeritus and Professor of International Relations and Earth & Environment at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, where he served as founding dean from 2014–2022. Since 2023, he has also served as President of WWF International.
A leading scholar of global public policy, climate change, sustainable development, and South Asian affairs, Najam has previously held leadership roles as Vice Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Director of the BU Pardee Center. He has taught at Boston University, MIT, and Tufts University’s Fletcher School, and has held fellowships at Oxford University, the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, and IIASA.
Najam was a contributing author to the IPCC assessments recognized with the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize and has advised the United Nations and the Government of Pakistan. He is the recipient of Pakistan’s Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-i-Imtiaz civil honors. He has authored more than 100 scholarly publications and numerous books on environment, development, and global governance.
