Smoking Policy

Responsible Office Human Resources

The University provides a smoke-free environment for all employees working on campus to provide reasonable protections to the health of its employees and others from the effects of smoke in the workplace.

Smoking, including use of e-cigarettes, vaping devices and similar electronic devices, is prohibited at all times in all areas of BU’s facilities, including work spaces, auditoriums, classrooms, conference and meeting rooms, private offices, elevators, hallways, medical facilities, waiting areas, dining areas, residential halls, common areas, loading docks, restrooms, lounges, patios, decks, yards, and loading docks.

Compliance with this policy is mandatory for all employees and persons visiting the University, with no exceptions. Employees who violate this policy may be subject to disciplinary action. Any disputes involving smoking and any employees with questions should discuss their issues/concerns with their respective HR Business Partner.  Employees will not be subject to retaliation for reporting violations of this policy in good faith.
