Make Learning Equitable for All
The EdM in Education for Equity & Social Justice at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is a comprehensive program for educators, policymakers, and human development professionals. You’ll learn how to address injustices in systems like education, health, housing, policy, the criminal legal system, and other areas of public life.
Gain resources and tools to design strategies to prevent and reverse inequities and engage in research projects developed with community partners in public education, nongovernmental organizations, social institutions, and more. Those seeking licensure may add the needed courses to advance that goal.
Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is a top-ranked college that focuses on cross-disciplinary research, experiential learning, and community engagement. We seek to empower our students, faculty, and staff to reshape the systems that impact learning and human development, more firmly centering them in justice, diversity, and belonging.

Driven by a desire to combat issues of racial disparity and injustice, Clinical Associate Professor Felicity Crawford, EdD, had a vision: to collaborate across disciplines to create a master’s program that would “help educators, policymakers, and other professionals learn how to address the consequences of systemic inequity that come along with invidious discrimination against excluded groups.” Now, this former PreK–12 educator and education researcher joins colleagues from across BU Wheelock to teach courses in the Equity & Social Justice EdM.
