Sung is a PhD candidate in Biomedical engineering. He earned his BA in Mathematics at Harvard University. From his undergraduate years, he worked at the Choi Lab in the Bioengineering and Nanomedicine (BENMD) Program at the Gordon Center for Medical Imaging of Massachusetts General Hospital, working to improve both the design of near-infrared contrast agents and biodistribution of small molecules.
Currently, he is looking into fNIRS and electrophysiology-based approaches to cognitive neuroscience, specifically focusing on memory, spatial encoding, and navigation. He is co-advised by Dr. David Boas and Dr. Matthias Stangl. His goal is to investigate the human brain and behavior via available modalities in everyday world contexts, hoping to shed light on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
