Event Highlights: How Can Haiti Solve Its Many Crises?

This panel discussion on the crisis in Haiti with Pierre Noel, Executive Director of the Haiti Development Institute in Boston; Amb. Jorge Heine, Research Professor, Pardee School of Global Studies; and Wollenczy Gentillon, Major in US Army and MA candidate, Pardee School of Global Studies, took place on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The panel was moderated by Amb. Paul Hare, Master Lecturer, Pardee School of Global Studies & Director, Center for Latin American Studies.

Pierre Noel has led the Haiti Development Institute for 13 years, guiding it from its origins as the Haiti Fund at The Boston Foundation through its transition into a registered nonprofit organization in Haiti. Based in Boston but spending significant time on the ground in Haiti, he focuses on institutionalizing HDI, building out its programs, governance, staff, and financial sustainability.

Born in Verrette, Haiti, Pierre emigrated to the U.S. as a teen and earned a BA in Political Science from Boston University and a law degree from the University of the District of Columbia School of Law. Pierre is also a graduate of the Nonprofit Management and Leadership program at Boston University.
