BU Hub News: Save the Date – Hub & Pub Series

This fall, Boston University will kick off its Hub & Pub Series: Conversations on Teaching & Learning in the BU Hub. A collaboration between the BU Hub Office and the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL), the monthly Hub & Pub gatherings are designed to provide members of the BU community a forum to share their experiences teaching in the Hub and to learn from each other. These discussion-based sessions, each led by different faculty members and exploring a specific topic, tackle questions and issues arising as faculty teach Hub courses for the first time. The setting is informal and grounded in faculty-to-faculty peer conversations. A selection of seasonal beers, wines, and hors d’oeuvres will be offered.

Additional BU Hub Updates

  • With the arrival of the class of 2022, the first Hub courses and cocurricular learning experiences are underway!
  • The Cross-College Challenge (XCC) pilot courses are commencing, with 75 students already enrolled – check out the faculty and projects on the XCC webpage at bu.edu/xcc.
  • The BU Hub website is now fully developed, and includes a number of new features, designed to make it easier to use and navigate. Please visit bu.edu/hub to see more. The original BU Task Force for General Education website has been retired, and faculty and staff can now find BU Hub information and resources in the For Faculty & Staff section of the new Hub website. We welcome any feedback on the website; please send your suggestions to thehub@bu.edu.
  • The University Council General Education Committee (GEC) has now approved 518 courses and cocurricular learning experiences for inclusion in the BU Hub.
  • For AY 2019-2020, the deadline for submitting Hub courses to the GEC is November 15, 2018. Priority areas of development include upper-level/major courses and new, distinctive Hub courses.
  • The deadline for chairs and deans to submit nominations for the Fall 2018 BU Hub New Course Development Seminar is Friday, September 7. Please visit the CTL website for more information.
