Topic for Fall 2025 B1: Photography of Persecution. Explores the use of photography by state and nonstate actors to criminalize, control, and crush vulnerable social groups. Examines claims of photographic objectivity, the circumstances of photographic production, and visual genres from mugshots to memes, memento mori to mass murder.
