Professor Simon Payaslian’s Visit to the U.K.
Professor Simon Payaslian traveled to London, Cambridge, and Stamford, UK, in early June to conduct research for his current project on H.F.B. (Harry Finnis Blosse) Lynch (1862-1913), businessman, author of Armenia: Travels and Studies (2 vols. London: Longmans, 1901), and Member of Parliament from 1906 to 1910. Payaslian visited the archives of Churchill College and Cambridge University and Stamford.
While in London, his wife Arpi Payaslian and he met with Professor Erik Goldstein (International Relations and History, Pardee School of Global Studies), who generously offered his time to guide them through the British Museum, the fascinating Sir John Soane’s Museum (at 13 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London), the St. Pancras Old Church, and St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
While walking through the Bloomsbury Square and the Bedford Square Garden, they passed by the house of Isaac D’Israeli (1766-1848) and his wife Maria (née Basevi), the parents of Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881). Benjamin Disraeli was born there.
