Reuters runs Prof Schulman’s Op-Ed “Why it’s still worth being president of the fractious United States”

On the syllabus for HI 283 (“The Modern American presidency”), Professor Bruce Schulman listed as the final week’s topic “The 21st Century Presidency: Is the United States Ungovernable?’  When he wrote the syllabus, he assumed that he would answer that question in the affirmative.  But when he sat down to plan the class, it occurred to him that, looked at in a longer perspective, that conventional wisdom could be wrong.
