SCHULMAN PUBLISHES TRIBUTE TO CARL N. DEGLER
In the latest (August 2015 issue) of the Journal of Southern History , Professor Bruce Schulman published a remembrance of Carl N. Degler, the pioneering historian of slavery and race relations, and women and the family, who passed away last December at the age of 93. A Pulitzer Prize-winning scholar, founding member of the National Organization for Women, and long-time Professor of History at Stanford University, Degler achieved a rare trifecta, serving as president of of the American Historical Association (1986), the Organization of American Historians (1979-1980), and the Southern Historical Association (1986), To read Schulman’s tribute, click here.
