Grads with a Liberal Arts Degree Win Out in the Long-run.
In Allie Grasgreen’s January 22 article, “Liberal Arts Grads Win Long-term,” appearing in Inside Higher Ed, she combats the notion that those majoring in the humanities are doomed to unemployment. Grasgreen’s article cites the results of a study conducted by the AAC&U and the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems, examining long-term career path and salary data from the 2010 and 2011 U.S. Census. Findings revealed that, by their mid-50s, liberal arts majors made more money, and were employed at similar rates as those who studied in professional and pre-professional fields.
