Professor Eugenio Menegon presented a paper together with other five BU faculty at the final BU-Heidelberg conference of the “Leisure and Social Change Across Asia” project that he helped start in 2010. Two previous conferences were held at BU in 2010 and 2012, and this last meeting took place at the “Cluster of Excellence Europe and Asia in Global Context” of the University of Heidelberg (Germany). Menegon’s paper, entitled “Who was using whom? Europeans, Leisurely Pursuits, and the Politics of Gift-Giving in Qing Beijing” is part of a larger book research project on Europeans in Beijing in late imperial times.
