Roberts Wins RIHA Grant

Together with Peter Harrison, the Director for the Center of European Discourses at the University of Queensland (Australia), BU History Professor Jon Roberts and has secured a $100,000 grant from the Historical Society’s program in Religion and Innovation in Human Affairs (RIHA).  The grant will fund a project that explores the nature of the historical interaction among science, religion, and naturalism, and the manner in which singly, or in combination, those approaches to human experience have contributed to (or hindered) innovation.  Harrison and Roberts have scheduled an international conference on this topic for February 2013 and plan to follow up the conference with the publication of an edited volume.  More information about the project can be obtained by consulting the RIHA website:  http://www.bu.edu/historic/riha/recipients/Religion_Naturalism_Scientific_Progress.html
