Composition (DMA)

The Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition program helps students work toward attaining a personal compositional aesthetic, and the techniques to express it through sound. To achieve this, students are provided a broad knowledge of contemporary and historical compositional practices and a mastery of analytic techniques for tonal and posttonal music. Degree candidates will complete a dissertation.
