One- to Two-Page Paper

This outline is simply a guide to help you organize your thoughts for this paper and provide a sense of what we’re looking for. Please write the paper as you see fit.

  • Introduction
    1. Details about a specific public health issue
    2. Public health issue in a global context
    3. Why this particular public health issue warrants immediate attention
  • Public health issue in specific low-income country
    1. Details about the public health issue in that particular country/region
    2. What is currently being done to address this issue in that country/region?
  • Idea for technological solution to a public health issue
    1. Discuss basic idea for a technological solution to the public health issue identified.
      • This does not require a detailed prototype – just an ambitious idea!
      • Keep in mind the technological solution will most likely be “used” in a resource-limited setting by healthcare workers with a limited education; consider the local context in your design
  • Conclusion

 

Two-Minute Video

Discuss the following:

  1. Why you should be chosen for the program (i.e.: what assets will you bring to the group)
  2. How does this program fits with your future career aspirations?

To submit the video:

  1. Create the video using applications on your laptop or smartphone.
  2. Upload the video to YouTube.
  3. Copy the YouTube link for your video.
  4. Paste the YouTube link for your video into the “Upload Video” field in the application.
  • If you want your video to be viewed only by those who have been sent the link—and not the general public—please make sure the video is “unlisted.”

To upload an “unlisted” video:

  1. Sign in to your YouTube account.
  2. Go to your My Videos page.
  3. Select the video that you’d like to make an unlisted video. Click the Edit button to access the video’s settings.
  4. Go to the Privacy section of the page. There you’ll see the option to mark your video as “unlisted,” “public,” or “private.” Select “unlisted.”
  5. Don’t forget to click the Save Changes button. Once you’ve done this, your video will be an unlisted video.
