Mali Health mHealth Coordinator
Reports to: National Director
Location: Bamako, Mali
Start Date and Duration: 1 year, beginning 6/1/2015, with opportunity for renewal
Position Description:
Working from Mali Health’s Bamako office, the mHealth Coordinator will manage the organization’s growing mobile health activities, cutting across several programs and departments, include monitoring and evaluation, database management, Community Health Worker Training, and communications. The position will involve the management and prioritization of several simultaneous responsibilities and will report directly to Mali Health’s National Director.
Position objectives:
-
Continue to develop Mali Health’s D-Tree mobile health application system as a dynamic and useful tool for Mali Health’s Community Health Workers
-
Develop the capacity within Mali Health’s local structure to ensure the ongoing success of the implementation and management of the program
-
Liaise with internal and external actors to troubleshoot, adjust, and improve the program
Primary Responsibilities:
-
Provide mHealth training to new and existing Community Health Workers
-
Work with our mHealth partnering organization, backstopping support to troubleshoot mHealth system
-
Manage back-end data collection system
-
With M&E Coordinator, analyze incoming results to inform Community Health Worker training and share data with the external health system
-
Liaise with external (government, INGO) actors to share ideas, improve system, and advance strategies
-
Provide appropriate training to future mHealth Program Coordinators
Secondary Responsibilities (where time permits):
-
Wok with Operations Manager in Boston to provide general communications support (images, video, and other content)

When necessary, provide ongoing translation support to Mali management team
-
Other responsibilities, as needed
Position Requirements:
-
1-2 years of experience in project management & evaluation
-
Advanced-level French skills
-
Experience working in under-resourced communities in the developing world, preferably West Africa
-
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field
-
Excellent communication skills
-
Must be able to work in teams and independently
-
Must be self-motivated
-
Must be comfortable working in a cultural environment different from one's own
Compensation and Benefits:
The mHealth Program Coordinator will be provided with housing, international insurance, and a small living stipend. Benefits include 2 weeks of vacation for every six months worked, program management experience in international development, and a local phone.

Open Society Foundations Youth Fellowship Program; deadline to apply is May 15th
What: the fellowship supports young activists and organizers as thought leaders and allies in crafting solutions and new youth-focused approaches to open society challenges. Fellows may produce a variety of work products, including publications, such as reports and blog posts; infographics and other visual content; innovative education and training resources and tools; the launch of new campaigns and organizations; and creation of artistic or cultural expression projects. They may also engage in activities such as hosting panel discussions, traveling to conferences, and presenting on their work in other public spaces.
Areas of work: youth mobilization and innovation in traditional human rights movements (i.e., the LGBTQ rights movement, disability rights, women’s rights, drug policy reform, etc.)/youth participation and civic engagement particularly around elections/youth-led movements/youth-led work in the field of justice (for example, policing, pretrial detention, incarcerated youth, or alternative sentencing)/youth tactics in advocacy and awareness raising (for example new media, arts activism, peer-to-peer networks, etc.) around human rights issues/ youth in closed or transitional societies
How much: $35,000–50,000
Eligibility Criteria : under the age of 30/ from anywhere in the world, with a particular interest in proposals from the global south/ proficient in spoken English/possess a deep understanding of their particular field and a record of successful movement-building initiatives, innovative project management experience, and/or experience in research/tools development. PLS NOTE: Only individuals may apply

Short-term, paid video editing project for Professor Laing’s GH756 Course
Professor Laing is looking for a student to help him edit some videos for GH756 course; strong video editing experience preferred. Project involves merging PowerPoint and video content using Camptasia software. The video material will be recorded Skype and ECHO 360 videos as well as two conventional videos. Prior experience with Camptasia would be an advantage.

Potential Intern Projects

- attending meetings, functions, policy briefings, and a variety of other events on behalf of EMD Serono; preparing detailed summaries of meetings;

- assisting with updating and maintenance of the GA&P intranet and creating e- rooms for document sharing and collaboration;

- assisting with internal projects and presentations pertaining to health policy; and learning about the oncology, fertility and neurology therapeutic areas and EMD Serono biopharmaceutical drug development activities
Critical Competencies and Skills for Success
Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and accurately, in addition to possessing strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
