The Institute for Excellence in Teaching & Learning offers a variety of events, programs, and workshops designed to support faculty in navigating conversations around and incorporating AI into their teaching and learning practices at BU.

Clearing the AIr Faculty-Student Affinity Group

The Clearing the AIr Faculty-Student Affinity Group is designed to foster honest, ongoing dialogue about artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education between faculty and students. All BU faculty are encouraged to become members of the group. We welcome applications from all disciplines, fields, and levels of AI knowledge.

Members selected for the Fall 2026 cohort will be invited to monthly meetings from 4:40 – 5:30 PM at 755 Commonwealth Avenue, Suite 103 on the following evenings:

  • September 9, 2026
  • October 7, 2026
  • November 4, 2026

Collaboratively Discovering AI

In-Studio AI Jam

Do you have a lingering question about AI, or perhaps a "riff" of an idea for your classroom that you’re ready to amplify? Drop in for an open In-Studio AI Jam: Collaboratively Discovering AI session!

The first thirty minutes of each session will provide attendees with an overview of how large language models (LLMs) work and the basics of TerrierGPT and Google Workspace with Notebook LM. Whether you want to drop in for ten minutes to troubleshoot a specific prompt or stay for the full session to build a complete prototype with our team, the floor is yours.

This is your chance to get hands-on with Terrier GPT, explore new tools, and navigate the spontaneous, unstructured workflow of AI in a low-pressure environment. These sessions are open to all BU faculty and staff.

Live Listening Sessions on AI

Clearing the AIr

"Clearing the AIr" offers 90-minute, on-site listening sessions led by BU’s Assistant Director of AI & Education, during which faculty can discuss the opportunities and challenges of AI in teaching and learning in a collegial, high-empathy setting.

BU’s schools, colleges, and departments can receive tailored guidance, practical tools, and a shared framework that meet your faculty where they are and help shift classroom practice toward equitable, sustainable AI responsiveness.
