Franco Maldonado Carlin is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics, working mainly on how trade policy uncertainty affects exporter and importer dynamics. He is also a pre-doctoral research fellow at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center, where he worked on how climate change has affected the decisions of the International Monetary Fund and its member governments.
Franco has an MA in Economics from Boston University and a BA in Economics from Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in his native Peru. Before coming to Boston, Franco worked in the Peruvian Ministry of Economy and Finance, where he analyzed and developed trade and other regulatory public policies and was part of the negotiation team of several free trade agreements.
