The Department of Economics remembers Professor Jonathan Eaton
The entire department and many past students are saddened to learn of the recent death of Jonathan Eaton, Distinguished Professor of Economics at Penn State. Professor Eaton was a member of our department from 1990-2002 and wrote his exceptionally influential paper “Technology, Geography, and Trade” (Econometrica, 2002) with Sam Kortum while they were both members of our department. He served as department chair and is very fondly remembered for his sparkling intelligence, commitment to the highest academic standards, humor, and caring personality.
