Virtual Rosenthal Memorial Lecture & PhD Visiting Day A Success

On March 27, the Rosenthal Memorial Lecture was broadcast virtually to over 180 attendees on Zoom. Professor Susan Athey (Stanford Graduate School of Business) presented “Platforms, Aggregators, and Intermediaries.” Thank you to the GEA and Norma Hardeo for organizing and arranging the lecture! This year’s complete lecture, along with previous Rosenthal Memorial Lectures going back more than a decade, can be found at https://www.bu.edu/econ/research/lectures/rosenthal/

On April 2, the department hosted our first Virtual Visiting Day for admitted Ph.D. students. The event was a huge success with more than 50 participants from around the world who learned about teaching and research in the department, “speed-dated” with more than 20 faculty members, and met with current Ph.D. students to learn their perspective. One participant responded,”Thanks for hosting the visiting day, which I have thoroughly enjoyed! It was very nice to get an insight into the atmosphere at the BU Econ department.” We also want to thank James Feigenbaum, Jihye Yeon, Linh Tô, and Mirtha Cabello who did a fantastic job in organizing this under the current circumstances, and the GEA, WEOrg and all the student volunteers who helped make this a great success.
