PhD Students awarded Exploratory Data Grants from Economic History Association

Boston University PhD students Chelsea Carter and Gianluca Russo both received Exploratory
Data Grants from the Economic History Association.  These grants are
award to PhD students in early stages of dissertation research.

Chelsea will be using her grant to travel to the National Archives in
Chicago to collect archival data related to the US Interstate Highway
System. She is studying the political planning process behind the
interstate system and subsequent effects of highway construction on
urban neighborhoods.

Gianluca will be using his grant to travel to Europe to collect archival
data on the relationship between World War I casualties and support for
fascist regimes in the early 1930’s.

Both projects are being supervised by Professor Robert Margo.
