Encouraging camera presence … or not

This document presents research on the potential reasons why students chose to leave their cameras off during virtual meetings/remote learning. The document proposes various methods educators could choose to strike a balance between encouraging students to come out of their comfort zone and still being mindful of their freedom of expression by conducting surveys on a sample set of students.

TO REFLECT ON

  • What activities you could add in remote learning sessions to ensure active learning?
  • What are the other ways you could tap into the mood of the target audience when the video input is turned off?
