Dr. Steve Colchamiro Honored for Promoting Oral Health

The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers will present its 2007 Founder’s Award to Dr. Stephen Colchamiro today for his efforts to promote access to oral health care for all the state’s residents.
Colchamiro has hosted BUSDM externship students at Jamaica Plain’s Brookside Community Health Center, where he is the dental director, since the externship program began in 1979. For the past five years, he has hosted APEX students at this site.
"Dr. Colchamiro is most deserving of this honor," says Director of Extramural Affairs Madalyn Mann. "He has worked tirelessly throughout his professional career to promote access to oral health care for the underserved. He is a great role model and mentor to both our APEX students and externs."
Boston University President Robert Brown and the Board of Trustees honored Colchamiro for his 25 years of service to the school at a recognition dinner in March. "We are all proud of his accomplishments and are fortunate to have such a valued colleague on our faculty for the past 25 years," added Mann.
Colchamiro will receive his award at the League’s gala at the Seaport Hotel.
