Large Group of AEGD Alumni Turn Out for Annual Reunion

On May 11, GSDM Department of Restorative Sciences/Biomaterials hosted “Creating Implant Esthetics,” a continuing education lecture and AEGD alumni reunion at the Trustee Ballroom.

The annual event featured a cocktail reception, vendor displays, dinner, and a CE lecture by Dr. Robert J. Chapman, Professor Emeritus at Tufts University. Dr. Chapman’s lecture explained his approach to achieving implant esthetics in patients where grafting is unnecessary or only minimally required.

Similar to past years the night was also a great opportunity for networking and catching up with old friends and classmates.

“I was touched by your overwhelming response this year to our invitation to join us this evening and am excited by the energy in the room,” said Clinical Professor and AEGD Director Dr. John Cassis in his address to the attendees. “Each year we are pleased to host happy alumni for a continued celebration of their completion of an intensive postgraduate program. Your fantastic response to this event inspires us—the faculty and staff of the AEGD program—to uphold the high standards our program is known for and ensure that it remains the best in the nation.”

Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter added, “I am very pleased to see all of the AEGD alumni in this room. You are a very important part of our GSDM community and I welcome you back to this annual event. I hope that you will be excited to learn about all that has been taking place at the Dental School in the past few months, including the finalization and implementation of the Applied Strategic Plan, the roll-out of the Code of Ethics by the Dean’s Council on Ethics & Professionalism, and completion of a Facility Master Planning report—which will help us begin planning for a new facility.”

Professor & Chair of Restorative Sciences/Biomaterials Dr. Dan Nathanson also addressed the attendees and later said, “This year’s event enjoyed the largest number of alumni participating and the joy in meeting their peer and mentors was clearly evident. I view our alumni as ‘ambassadors at large’ for the School, while we the faculty, are part of their extended family. I look forward to continuing the tradition of the yearly event and enlarging the circles of participants in the coming years.”
