BUVSDA Promotes Good Oral Health in Local Vietnamese Community

The annual TET in Boston Festival was held on Saturday, February 5, in Dorchester, Massachusetts. This annual community festival celebrates TET, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. The Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine chapter of the Vietnamese Student Dental Association (BUVSDA) collaborated with Community Health Programs (CHP) Oral Health Promotion Director Kathy Lituri and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine students for this annual event.

Volunteers demonstrated proper oral hygiene concepts, promoted good oral health practices, played games, and distributed small prizes to the children in attendance. The GSDM booth was very popular and supplies were limited only halfway into the event!

“This year was another successful event and another opportunity to be involved with the Vietnamese community," said Anh-Thu Mai DMD 10. "We hope our contribution has made a difference, even if it’s a small one, in bringing a healthier and happier new year to the Vietnamese community. We would like to thank GSDM for donating the oral hygiene supplies; without them, we would not be able to continue our involvement in this event.”

Volunteers at the event were Anh-Thu Mai DMD 10 and Thuy Dong DMD 10 from GSDM; Christine Cao DMD 13, Mai Pham DMD 13, and Quyen Tran DMD 10 from Tufts; and some friends of the BUVSDA members.
