Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials Honors Class of 2009

The Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials held a celebratory dinner for graduating postdoctoral prosthodontics residents on July 8 at the Castle.
Professor and Chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials Dr. Dan Nathanson started the night by welcoming the graduating class and guests and praising both former Director of the Postdoctoral Program in Prosthodontics Dr. Steven Morgano and Director ad interim Dr. John Bowley for shaping and maintaining one of the premier prosthodontic programs in the US. He also highlighted all members of the faculty, referring to them as the most outstanding faculty a program can have, and thanked the program’s laboratory technicians, dental assistants, and administrative staff for organizing such an outstanding reception.
Addressing the graduating class Dr. Nathanson added, “In three years you have completed an amazing trip, a long distance from your primary dental education. You should be proud of your achievements, but remember that as specialists you are on a higher level and expected to deliver 100% quality.”
"You are all about to begin a new chapter in your professional careers, but before you look ahead, I encourage you to reflect on all that you have accomplished as a postdoctoral resident at GSDM," added Dean Jeffrey Hutter, also in attendance. "Our postdoctoral programs are world renown and the excellence of the prosthodontic program is the result of the leadership of Dr. Nathanson, Dr. Bowley, and Dr. Morgano who is presently Chief Academic Officer at BUIDRE Dubai. As graduates of this program you now join the proud family of GSDM alumni." Dean Hutter continued, "Please know that you will always have a home to come to at GSDM and Kathy and I wish you and your families the greatest of success."
At the dinner Chi-Chen Hsu PROS 09 received the Baraban Award, Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Prosthodontics Residents Laboratory Dr. Gurkan Goktug received the Faculty Award, and Dr. Bowley was presented with the Appreciation Award.
The evening was completed with a video by residents. Photos from the event are available on GSDM’s flickr account and also on the GSDM Facebook page. You must have full web access to view the flickr account.
