Alumnus Helps New Dentists Gain Competitive Edge in Interview Process

Mitchell Sabbagh DMD 87 presented a seminar on interviewing at the New Dentist Lounge at Yankee Dental Congress 33. The New Dentist Lounge housed Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine’s (BUGSDM) Dental Career Network and provided Yankee attendees with private consultations in preparing a resume, free job postings, and seminars on a variety of topics.

Dr. Sabbagh’s presentation was geared toward an audience of new dentists who ranged in experience from preparing to graduate from dental school to practicing for only a few years. He gave tips on how to transition from dental school to a dental practice, as well as what an employer is looking for when hiring an associate.

"It is very important for prospective employees to know what they are looking for in a practice before they begin the interview process, " said Dr. Sabbagh. "Twenty years ago, when I graduated, there was not a lot of discussion about transitioning into a practice. Now, through the various organizations available to help students, it is easier for BUGSDM graduates to secure employment in a higher caliber of practice; one that is best suited to helping them develop their skills as a practicing dentist."
