As always, the annual reception provided members of the GSDM community the opportunity to relax and catch up with their fellow colleagues, alumni and friends. The reception featured various hors d’oeuvres for all the attendees to enjoy, while connecting with new and old friends from the GSDM community.

President of the GSDM Alumni Association, Dr. Sean Rayment DMD 97 DSc 00 opened the evening by welcoming everyone back to Boston and to the Seaport Hotel. He then handed the podium over to Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter, who had exciting news to share with all in attendance.

Dean Hutter first acknowledged the presence of several special guests:

  • Joseph P. Crowley, President of the American Dental Association
  • Jeffrey M. Cole, President-elect of the American Dental Association. Dr. Cole was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Linda Cole
  • Robert A. Faiella, Past-President (2012-2013) of the American Dental Association
  • Judith Fisch, First District Trustee of the American Dental Association
  • David Lustbader CAS 86 DMD 86, President of the Massachusetts Dental Society and Chair of the GSDM Dean’s Advisory Board. Dr. Lustbader was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Wendy Lustbader SAR 86
  • Howard Zolot PERIO 85, Vice President of the Massachusetts Dental Society
  • Raymond Martin, Immediate Past President of the Massachusetts Dental Society
  • Robert Boose, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Dental Society
  • Steve Witkowski, Boston University Associate Vice President of Development
  • Mitch Sabbagh DMD 87, Past-President of the GSDM Alumni Association and now the GSDM representative on the Boston University Alumni Council
  • Bing Liu DSc 99 DMD 03, Immediate Past President of the GSDM Alumni Association
  • Tim McDonough, GSDM Executive Director of Finance & Operations and member of the GSDM Dean’s Advisory Board

He then characterized GSDM as a School dedicated to the concept of “commitment.” After showing the audience a series of still images and video of the Addition/Expansion and Renovation construction project, Dean Hutter shared that nearly all hurdles have been cleared and we are officially scheduled to go to construction in February 2018.

Dr. David Lustbader CAS 86 DMD 86, Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Board and Clinical Instructor in the GSDM Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, then said a few words about the Dean’s Advisory Board, the future of GSDM and the need for all alumni to financially support the Construction project and the School. He was then followed by Dr. Rayment, who added a few words regarding the Alumni Association and the need for all GSDM alumni to support the new School in any way they can.

Dr. Mitch Sabbagh also took to the podium and welcomed everyone to the alumni reception. He praised Dean Hutter and Dr. Rayment for their efforts in gaining the support of the alumni in backing the GSDM Construction Project and the need for the alumni to give generously to their alma mater.

Dean Hutter once again came to the podium to thank all the alumni, faculty, staff, residents, and students—as well as their families— and friends of GSDM for coming out to the 2018 GSDM Alumni Reception.

“I am thrilled to be leading the charge into our future, and I am honored that you, our alumni and friends, faculty, staff, students and residents will join me. Thank you to all of you for participating in the 2018 Yankee Dental Congress; and thank you for being here this evening for this very special Alumni Reception,” said Dean Hutter.
