Students Give Back at the Wang YMCA Holiday Party

On Sunday, December 4, 2016, six students and residents from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine’s (GSDM) Asian Dental Student Organization (ADSO) volunteered at the Wang YMCA Holiday Party for children. This event is an annual Holiday party full of festivities for children and their families. For the last eight years, GSDM students have volunteered at this event, beginning with the Vietnamese Student Dental Association (VSDA) and more recently ASDO.

Led by ADSO Officers Harry Lee DMD 19 and Danny Nguyen DMD 19, the group worked at several tables with various age-appropriate, interactive oral health activities and information, while also handing out toothbrushes and toothpaste to the attendees. The other volunteers from GSDM were Violet Hu AS 18, Gary Li DMD 20, Melanie Ma DMD 20, and Christien Chao DMD 19, as well as Oral Health Promotion Director, Ms. Kathy Lituri.

More than 400 families attended the event at the YMCA location in Chintatown, which was decorated with balloons and a Christmas tree. The young party goers enjoyed a bounce house, games, face painting, and other children’s activities.
