GSDM Hosts the 2015 Jay Siebert Tri-School Symposium

Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) hosted the 2015 Jay Siebert Tri-School Symposium on April 24 and 25 at the Trustee Ballroom on Silber Way. Post-doctoral residents from GSDM, New York University College of Dentistry (NYU), and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (UPenn) presented a wide variety of research related to periodontics and implant dentistry.
Four GSDM post-doctoral residents gave presentations during the symposium. Abeer Al-Asmari PERIO 15 gave a presentation titled “Impact of Clinically used Alendronate (Fosamax) on Cancer-Bone Metastasis and Bone Biology Revealed by Novel 3D-Bone Organ Model Systems.” Adriana Lara PERIO 15 and Eddie Chien PROS 17 gave a joint presentation titled “Implant Therapy: A Viable Treatment Modality in Patients with Generalized Aggressive Priodontitis.,” Ahmed Almehmadi PERIO 15 presented “Alveolar Ridge Management for Implant Placement,” and Justin Cifuni PERIO 15 presented “Innovation in Bone Augmentation.”
“The Tri-School Symposium is an excellent opportunity for our periodontic and prosthodontic residents to learn about dental research that is taking place at NYU and UPenn. It is also a great opportunity to network with their peers at these schools,” said Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter. “The research presented by the residents this year was outstanding.”
“It was a very successful tri-school meeting involving the periodontal residents from the three Universities,” said Chair of Periodontology Dr. Serge Dibart. “It also was an opportunity to showcase the cutting edge treatment options that are offered at GSDM by the periodontology residents involved in research.”
This year’s sponsors were Ace Surgical Supply, Acteon North America, Hu-Friedy, Nobel Biocare, and Straumann.
