Edith Spector Retires After 21 Years of Service
GSDM Sterilization Assistant Edith Spector retired after 21 years of service to GSDM. A retirement party was held in the Dean’s Conference Room on Friday, July 20, 2012, at 12 p.m. Guests enjoyed chocolate cake as they wished Spector well in her retirement.
When asked what she plans to do in her retirement, Spector quipped, “Everyone thinks I’m retiring to go home and sleep the day away, but that is not the case. I’m looking forward to enjoying two of my favorite hobbies: crocheting and knitting.” For the entire month of August, Spector has “scheduled” time at local beaches. Spector is approaching retirement with a glass-half full mentality, mentioning that she won’t even mind when the ocean temperature is cold!
There were many hugs, kisses, tears, and laughs at the retirement celebration. Spector’s supervisor, Infection Control Manager Pamela Simmons, said, “On behalf of the Central Dispensary Team, we are happy to celebrate Edith Spector’s 21 yrs. of dedication and commitment to GSDM. We congratulate Edith on her retirement and wish her well.”
Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter said, “On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, I would like to thank Edith for her many dedicated years of service to GSDM and specifically the Sterilization Office. Congratulations and best wishes in your retirement.”
