Sharing Dental School Knowledge with CRC Students

news-be-well-200More than 300 BU students visited the GSDM booth at this year’s Be Well Health Fair. The fair caters to BU undergraduate students and offers information on all aspects of health. Four GSDM students—Satinder Kaur Pandher DMD 13, Pallavi Chellur DMD12, Manu Sharma DMD 12, and Anya Pukhovitskaya DMD 13—volunteered to present information on oral health, along with CHP Oral Health Promotion Director Kathy Lituri.

Said Pandher, “The Be Well Health Fair was a great experience for me. Many students asked us questions regarding oral heath such as which toothbrush and toothpaste they should use, when it’s time to change a brush, if it’s necessary to floss daily, why it’s important to go for regular dental checkups, and what causes stress ulcers in the mouth. We were very happy to hear all these queries and provide answers.”

The group also discussed other age-appropriate oral health topics such as third molars, oral piercing, the BU Student Dental Plan, tobacco, and sugary drinks. They played the Celebrity Smiles game with students who visited their booth and awarded them with a new toothbrush for guessing three smiles correctly.
