Looking Ahead: IADR/AADR General Session

As many members of the GSDM community prepare to travel to San Diego for the IADR/AADR General Session Outlook This Week would like to point out some familiar faces that will be representing GSDM at the Session.
Herbert Schilder Professor in Endodontics and Director of the Postdoctoral Program in Endodontics Dr. George Huang will serve as Organizer and Chair of two Symposia. The first, Stem Cells, Reprogramming, Immunomodulation and Cancer will be held on Thursday, March 17, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in room 24C of the San Diego Convention Center. At 11:05 a.m., during this Symposium, he will present a lecture titled, “iPS Cells – New Foundation for Medicine.” The second Symposium, Translation of Stem Cell Biology to Craniofacial Regeneration: Challenges and Opportunities, will be held on Friday, March 18, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in Convention Center room 24C.
Chair of Periodontology & Oral Biology Dr. Frank Oppenheim will present a keynote presentation at the Session. The lecture is part of the Oral Session: Keynote Address and Salivary Proteome. Dr. Oppenheim’s presentation is titled, “The Conundrum of Whole Saliva,” and will take place on Friday, March 18, at 10:45 a.m. in Convention Center room 29A.
GSDM students will also get in on the action with research presentations. Saha Abtahi DMD 12 will present a poster titled, “Resolvin E1 Enhances P.gingivalis Phagocytosis by PMN,” during the Hatton Competition on Tuesday, March 15 and again on Friday, March 18 at 2 p.m. in Convention Center Hall C. Kimberly Chan DMD 12 and Krina Shah DMD 11 will give oral presentations of their research respectively titled, “Characterization of iPS Cells with BCOR Mutation,” and “Effect of Thickness and Photo-polymerization on Composite Curing,” on Wednesday, March 16, beginning at 3:15 p.m. in Convention Center room 33B. On Thursday, March 17, at 2 p.m. in Convention Center Hall C Insun Yoon DMD 13 will present a poster titled, “3D Model of Dental Stem Cell Attachment to MTA.” Also in Hall C on Friday, March 18, at 2 p.m. Ilya Garibyan DMD 13 will present a poster titled, “Assessing the Oral Health Needs of Public Housing Residents.” On Saturday, March 19, at 1:45 p.m. it’s Nicholas Snider’s turn to present in Hall C, as he displays his research titled, “A Review of the Effects of Smoking on Dental Implants.”
