Research of DMD Students Highlighted

On August 16, 11 DMD 13 students presented summaries of the research they completed during their eight-week APEX I research rotations.

"The outstanding performance of our research students emphasizes the importance of research training in dental education," said Professor and Director of the Predoctoral Research Program Dr. Maria Kukuruzinska. "We hope that this experience will serve as a basis for their future professional development, and that some students will elect to pursue research in oral medicine."

The presenting students completed research on a wide variety of topics while working with a diverse group of mentors from departments throughout the School. After each student presented for 10 minutes they fielded questions from the audience comprised of other students, staff, and faculty.

"The student presenters should be very proud of themselves," said Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter. "They have accomplished a great deal in their eight-week rotations. I hope that they have been inspired to continue to pursue these research topics as they advance in their education."
