Students to Benefit from Revamped Student Affairs and New Assistant Dean of Students

In order to broaden the scope of services available to our students, Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter announced July 1 that he has reorganized the Office of Student Services into what will now be the Office of Student Affairs. This newly established Office of Student Affairs will be comprised of a Division of Educational Resources and a Division of Career Services and Opportunities.

Dean Hutter also announced that he has appointed Dr. Joseph Calabrese Assistant Dean of Students. Under Dr. Calabrese’s leadership, the Office of Student Affairs will provide a center for student advocacy within the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) community by fostering an environment that is supportive and respectful, and encourages students to engage in School-wide curricular and extra-curricular activities that will enrich their time at the School, the Medical Campus and the University.

"I am very pleased that Dr. Calabrese will be leading the Office of Student Affairs," said Dean Hutter adding "Dr. Calabrese has a wonderful rapport with our students and I am confident that his office will provide supportive programming for the students in order to help them to become better students and ultimately, better dentists."

Dr. Calabrese joined the faculty of GSDM as a Course Lecturer in 1993. He was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials in 1994 and Assistant Professor in the Department of General Dentistry in 2001. I am both humbled and honored to be appointed the Assistant Dean of Students at my alma mater. I look forward to building on our strong foundation of support for our students and expanding the scope of opportunities in our new office of Student Affairs.”
