Goldman Gala: A Cause for Celebration

Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) celebrated the first-ever Goldman Gala on Friday, March 26, at the The Westin Copley Place, Boston. The event celebrated the hard work and achievements of GSDM students, as well as the 100th birthday of the School’s founder, Dr. Henry M. Goldman.

The semi-formal event featured a cocktail hour complete with raw bar and impressive tooth ice-sculpture. Guests then headed to the dining room for dinner where they were welcomed by Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter.

"The gala this evening is truly for you students and Kathy and I are absolutely delighted to host you this evening and so pleased that everyone is having such a wonderful time," said Dean Hutter. "We all know how dedicated our students are to their studies and their chosen profession and it is truly special for us to honor and celebrate all that you have achieved and accomplished here tonight."

Dean Hutter continued, "The gala this evening coincides with the 100th anniversary of the birth of our School founder Dr. Henry M. Goldman. He was a visionary and a trail blazer and I am personally very proud to carry on the tradition of excellence he initiated and to now be serving as the third dean of the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine."

Dean Hutter thanked event organizers DMD 10 Class President Gary Nord, Director of Alumni Relations Stacey McNamee, and Christine Haigh, then welcomed student leaders—including Sonja Evans DMD 13, the student that came up with the winning name for the event—along with representatives from various programs to the dance floor to help cut Dr. Goldman’s birthday cake.

Following the cutting of the cake, guests enjoyed dinner and dancing to the music of DJ Theo, one of Boston’s most popular nightclub djs.
